Opening a StarLab

How the platform works for those who make a room available, and the agreement between StarLab and the venue manager. The first part explains, the second is the contract: you accept it at the end of the guided application.

Part one · How it works

What StarLab is

StarLab is a network of rooms for training, meetings, conferences and events, with one website, star-lab.it, where people looking for a room find it by city, see photos, seats, equipment and prices, pick day and time on the calendar and pay online by card, receiving instant confirmation. The platform belongs to Romano Formazione S.a.s. ("StarLab"), which also runs the first venue, in Rome San Lorenzo.

What you do

What StarLab does

The 9%

For this service StarLab keeps 9% of every paid booking. There are no fixed fees, set-up costs or minimums: if nobody books, you pay nothing. The percentage is calculated on the amount actually collected, net of refunds made to customers.

ExampleCustomer paysStarLab keeps (9%)You receive
Half day€ 200€ 18€ 182
Full day€ 390€ 35.10€ 354.90
€ 200 booking cancelled 10 days before (90% refund)€ 200 − € 180 = € 20€ 1.80€ 18.20

When you get paid

Customers pay on StarLab's Stripe account. At the end of each month, from your account (Manage your StarLab → Takings and payouts), you see the summary of the closed month: collected, refunds, commission and net. With one click you request the payout and StarLab transfers the net amount to the IBAN you provided, normally within 10 working days of the request. Refunds to customers are deducted from the month in which the payment was collected.

Customer rules are the same in every venue

Free rescheduling up to 48 hours before; cancellation with a 90% refund up to 7 days before, 50% between 7 days and 48 hours before, no refund under 48 hours. These are the site's Booking terms, identical for all venues: customers know what to expect wherever they book.

Part two · Agreement for venue managers

1. The parties

StarLab: Romano Formazione S.a.s., registered office in Via Macaggi 25/10, 16121 Genoa (GE), Italy, VAT no. 02477940999, owner of star-lab.it. Contacts: ivanromano@romanoformazione.com · tel. +39 346 093 1082.

Manager: the individual or company that, through the site's guided application, asks to add one or more rooms ("Venue") to the StarLab network and accepts this agreement. The Manager declares to have title to make the premises available and to act in the course of their business.

2. Subject

StarLab provides the Manager with its platform to promote the Venue, collect room bookings and receive the related payments in the Manager's name and on their behalf, and to publish the Venue's events. The contract for the use of the room is concluded between the Manager and the customer under the site's Booking terms; StarLab acts as intermediary and collection agent and does not become a party to that contract.

3. Manager's obligations

4. StarLab's obligations

5. Fee

For the services under point 2 the Manager owes StarLab a commission of 9% (VAT included, where applicable) of the amount of each paid booking, calculated on the amount collected net of refunds granted to customers. Nothing else is due: no fees, activation costs or guaranteed minimums. StarLab withholds the commission from the takings and issues the related tax document to the Manager for each settled period. The percentage is shown in the account; changes follow point 11.

6. Takings, settlement and refunds

7. Cancellation by the Manager

If the Manager cannot honour a confirmed booking, they must inform StarLab and the customer as soon as possible. The customer is entitled, at their choice, to an equivalent room, a new date or a full refund, as provided by the Booking terms. The refund is borne by the Manager. In case of repeated cancellations or rooms not matching what was declared, StarLab may suspend the Venue from the site.

8. Events

The Manager may publish on the site public events taking place in the Venue and collect sign-ups. They are solely responsible towards participants for content, running, permits and copyright. StarLab may remove events contrary to the law, to decency or to these terms.

9. Personal data

StarLab is the data controller for data collected by the site (customers, managers, event sign-ups) under the Privacy policy. Customer data needed to carry out a booking (name, contacts, booking details) is passed to the Manager, who processes it as an independent controller for that purpose only, without using it for marketing unless the person consents.

10. Term, withdrawal and suspension

The agreement is open-ended from the publication of the Venue. Either party may withdraw at any time with 30 days' notice by email; bookings already confirmed at the date of withdrawal are honoured and settled anyway. StarLab may suspend the Venue with immediate effect in case of breach of points 3 or 7, well-founded customer complaints or failure to keep the page up to date; the suspension is notified to the Manager with the reasons.

11. Changes

StarLab may change these terms, including the commission rate, notifying the Manager by email at least 30 days in advance. Changes apply to bookings received after they take effect. A Manager who does not accept them may withdraw within that period without notice.

12. Liability

StarLab is responsible for the running of the platform and the handling of payments; it is not liable for what happens on the Venue premises, for the state of premises and equipment, or for damage to people or property during the use of the rooms, which remain with the Manager and the customer under the Booking terms. The Manager holds StarLab harmless from third-party claims arising from the premises, from services provided in the Venue or from content they published.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

This agreement is governed by Italian law. The Court of Genoa has exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

14. Acceptance

The Manager accepts this agreement in the last step of the guided application on star-lab.it, with their own account; date, time and accepted version are recorded. The agreement takes effect when the Venue is published on the site.
